When it comes to helping people in the business to internalise the corporate purpose, the slower path is often the better one.
That’s the choice that Alan Dunsmore, CEO of Severfield, the UK’s largest steel fabricator, has made. And it’s working.
Severfield’s purpose is beginning to show up in customer case studies and job descriptions. It is underpinning some extensive work that the business is doing on values and behavioural frameworks, and it informs a major strategic initiative to digitise the business.
Listen to how he does it on the latest episode of The Purposeful Strategist.
Alan joined Severfield in March 2010 from Smiths Group plc. He joined Smiths Group Medical Division in 1995, holding various positions throughout the business and from 2004 was Director of Finance for Smiths Detection.
Prior to joining Smiths, he was with Coopers and Lybrand in Glasgow, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992.
Alan was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in February 2018.
